The one window each year when anyone can enroll or switch plans without a qualifying life event. Here are the 2027 dates that matter for Florida.

Enroll by December 15, 2026 to have coverage that starts January 1, 2027. That is the deadline that matters in every state, and it is the one we plan around with every client.
The final close date is genuinely unsettled this year. A 2025 federal rule would have ended enrollment on December 15, but a court vacated that rule in June 2026. Some states are expected to keep a mid-January deadline with coverage starting February 1. Because this is still moving, we confirm current deadlines with you directly rather than relying on last year's calendar — and our advice is simple: don't plan past December 15.
Two changes are landing at once, and together they mean a lot of Floridians will see a very different number on their renewal notice.
The enhanced premium tax credits that ran from 2021 through 2025 expired on December 31, 2025 and had not been reinstated as of mid-2026. Those credits are what kept many monthly premiums unusually low. Separately, several insurers exited Marketplace business at the end of 2025, which reshuffles which plans are available and can change the benchmark your subsidy is calculated against.
If your premium jumped, you are not imagining it, and auto-renewing into the same plan is rarely the right move this year.
Don't auto-renew without looking. Networks, drug formularies, deductibles, and prices all move annually. A plan that fit last year can quietly become the wrong plan.
Get your income estimate ready. Subsidy amounts are based on your projected household income for the coverage year, not last year's tax return.
List your must-keeps. The doctors you want to stay with and the prescriptions you actually take. That list is what we check plans against.
Reach out in October. The first two weeks of November are the busiest of the year. Earlier means more time to compare.
